Molybdenum disulfides is a kind of inorganic compound comprised of molybdenum and sulphur. The chemical formula is Mos2. 

The compound can be classified into transition metal dichalcogenide. It looks like a silver black solid and occurs as a mineral molybdenites which is the principal ore of the molybdenum. Molybdenum Disulphide is basically unreactive in nature. It is not at all effective by the oxygen and acids. The feel and looks of Mos2 are quite similar to graphite. The use of Mos2 is quite wide as a dry lubricant because of its robustness nature and low friction.

Bulk Mos2 is an indirect bandgap and diamagnetic semiconductor which is similar to silicon and has a bandgap of 1.23 eV. 

Molybdenum disulfide spray which is also known as Moly Spray is frequently used because of its numerous advantages. Some of its advantages are

7. Due to release extrusion dies and plastic moulds as well.

8. Use extensively in defence components and aerospace materials also.

9. Use of Mos2 in marine parts is quite common.  

10. Used vastly in rotating and sliding components.

11. Utilized in actuators and valve components.

12. It is one of the most popular components used in robotics.

13. Utilized in seals, shafts, spindles and rollers. 

14. An important component used in ammunition parts and also in bullets.

15. Mos2 is also put to use in dies, punches, knives, slitters, blades along cutting tools.
